In December 2018, I had the incredible opportunity of spending one month, teaching Grade 6, at the Linda Community School in Livingstone, Zambia. Unfortunately, education in Zambia is not free. Although, the Linda School, which sits in a particularly poor area of Livingstone, provides free education to a vulnerable community (mainly orphaned and vulnerable children). The school has a current population of 420 students and I was assigned to the Grade 6 classroom to teach English and Math to the students. After the month ended, I walked away feeling like they taught me more than I taught them! They are each such intelligent, unique individuals with dreams that are very much alive. I look forward to returning to Zambia to watch them grow!
